Abstract 4474: Cannabidiol enhances etoposide efficacy in non-small cell lung cancer by engaging a p53-mTOR-TFEB lysosomal death program. Source / Quelle: https://aacrjournals.org/cancerres/article/86/7_Supplement/4474/777680 Abstract The search for more effective and safer cancer therapies has intensified interest in combination regimens that repurpose well-established agents. Here, we investigated whether cannabidiol (CBD), a cannabis-derived compound clinically used for pediatric epilepsy, can potentiate the anticancer activity of etoposide in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Among multiple chemotherapeutics tested, etoposide displayed the most pronounced reduction in NSCLC cell viability when combined with CBD, indicating a robust synergistic interaction. To elucidate the underlying mechanisms, we performed comprehensive transcriptomic and proteomic profiling, revealing that the CBD-etoposide combination up-regulated gene programs associated with autophagic cell death while conc

Effect of CBD on Cancer-Pathway Genes in Doxorubicin-Sensitive and Resistant Breast Cancer
The Effect of Cannabidiol on Cancer-Pathway Genes in Doxorubicin-Sensitive and Resistant Breast Cancer Cells Source / Quelle: https://www.mdpi.com/1424-8247/19/4/615 Abstract Purpose: Cannabidiol (CBD) is a primary bioactive, non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. Studies have shown that CBD causes anticancer activity by inhibiting the expression of growth factors and inducing apoptosis, leading to cell cycle arrest. In this study, we aimed to determine how CBD influences the expression of genes that affect cancer pathways in doxorubicin-sensitive (MCF-7) and doxorubicin-resistant (MCF-7/Adr) breast cancer cells. Materials and Methods: IC50 concentrations of CBD in MCF-7 and MCF-7/Adr cell lines were determined by the MTT cell cytotoxicity assay. RNA isolation and subsequent cDNA synthesis were performed for qPCR experiments with the determined IC50 values. The effects of CBD on the cell cycle and apoptosis were studied using flow cytometry. IC50 values of CBD were d

Cannabinoids Characterization and the Anti-cancer Activity of Cannabis sativa Stem Extracts
Cannabinoids Characterization and the Anti-cancer Activity of Cannabis sativa Stem Extracts against Colorectal Cancer Cell Source / Quelle: https://lafiascijournals.org.ng/index.php/ljsir/article/view/808 Department of Chemistry, Federal University of Lafia, PMB 146, Nasarawa State, Nigeria Abstract Cannabis sativa is a plant with a growing interests in research, and this is because of it therapeutic value associated with its active constituents such as cannabinoids and the terpenes. In this study, we characterized some isolated cannabinoids from the stems of cannabis plant using a JEOL Delta GX 400 MHz FT nuclear magnetic resonance instrument, and also evaluate the anti-cancer activity of the extracts against colorectal cancer cell. The cell viability was assessed using AlamarBlue and readings were recorded in term of fluorescence values using a microplate reader. Two cannabinoids were isolated (cannabinol and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) from the stems. HCT 116 cancerous cell was use

Inhibitory effect of cannabidiol on infectious bronchitis virus in chickens in vitro and in vivo
Source / Quelle: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00203-026-04886-7 Abstract Avian infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), a gamma coronavirus, remains the predominant pathogen affecting poultry worldwide, posing a significant threat to the poultry industry. Cannabidiol (CBD), the primary non-psychoactive constituent of Cannabis sativa, has demonstrated diverse pharmacological properties. This study investigated the inhibitory effects of CBD against IBV infection both in vitro and in vivo. Chicken embryo kidney (CEK) cells infected with IBV were treated with CBD at various concentrations (2–20 µM). Our results demonstrated that CBD significantly suppressed IBV replication in a dose-dependent manner without affecting cell viability. Furthermore, in SPF chickens, CBD treatment markedly alleviated clinical symptoms, reduced tracheal and renal histopathological lesions, and significantly decreased viral loads in tissues. Transcriptomic analysis of tracheal tissue suggested that CBD ma

The association between prenatal exposure to cannabis with and without tobacco
The association between prenatal exposure to cannabis with and without tobacco and early cognitive and language development in a sample of polysubstance-exposed children Source / Quelle: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0378378226000745?via%3Dihub Highlights • We tested whether children with prenatal cannabis and/or tobacco exposure had worse development. • Cannabis exposure was not associated with impaired cognitive or language development. • Co-exposure to tobacco was not associated with worse outcomes than cannabis alone. • Results may help reduce stigma among women who have used cannabis during pregnancy. Abstract Background Prenatal cannabis exposure may have adverse effects on development which could be amplified by co-exposure with tobacco. Objective This study examined whether prenatal cannabis exposure was associated with disrupted language or cognitive development, and whether co-exposure to tobacco was associated with worse outcomes than to cannabis alone.

Cannabis sativa leaf by-products extracts: Chemical composition, antimicrobial and in silico study
Source / Quelle: https://www.ecoeet.com/Cannabis-sativa-L-leaf-by-products-extracts-Chemical-composition-antimicrobial-and,220997,0,1.html Summary Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the biological potential of Cannabis sativa L. leaf co-products obtained through different extraction methods (sonication, maceration, and decoction), with a particular focus on their antimicrobial properties and chemical composition. Methodology and Results: Extracts were prepared using sonication, maceration, and decoction, and their antimicrobial activity was assessed against two pathogenic microorganisms: Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and Candida albicans. The sonication extract exhibited the highest antibacterial activity against A. actinomycetemcomitans, whereas the maceration extract showed strong antifungal activity against C. albicans. All extracts, except the decoction, demonstrated both bactericidal and fungicidal effects. Chemical characterization was performed using High-Performance Liq
